What do I do if I receive a subpoena?

Published on July 22nd, 2009

If you receive a subpoena, first read the subpoena carefully to determine the court from which it was sent. Then, appear at that court on the date and time indicated on your subpoena. Failure to appear may result in contempt of court, with possible fines and/or incarceration.

If your appearance is no longer required, you will be contacted by a member of the court or the prosecuting authority to cancel the subpoena in advance of your appearance.
